Day Habilitation

CSS provides day habilitation services for consumers with intensive needs who are 21 years of age or older. The social, recreational, vocational, and instructional activities offered are designed to be innovative and enriching and are intended to promote opportunity, inclusion and the development of life skills through a safe, highly structured schedule of purposeful activities.

Day habilitation services are delivered through a variety of classes at the CSS Community Resource Center. Services are also delivered in the community, where consumers are supported to access various quality resources.

The Day Habilitation program strives to deliver best practices services to consumers. Classes offered include, but are not limited to, the following:

Social/Leisure
Art; Beading; Bingo; Explore Your Community; Fun With Clay; Making Music; Nail/Spa; Paint By Numbers; Puzzles & Games; Social Group; Snack Group; Story Art; Stretching/Yoga; Structured Leisure; and Walking

Recreational
Basketball; Billiards/Ping Pong; Bowling; Dance; Indoor Exercise; Obstacle Course; Parachute/Ribbon; Relay Races; Soccer; Swimming; and Volleyball

Vocational
Clean the Resource Center Atrium; Van Clinic; Vocational Skills Training; and volunteer work at the CSS thrift store and at local nonprofits

Therapeutic/Instructional
Budgeting; Music Therapy; Sensory Integration; Language Therapy; and Listening Activities

Trained caregivers develop and lead most of the classes. Other classes, such as music and language therapy, are led by experienced, licensed professionals.

The Day program serves consumers who live with their families as well as individuals who reside at CSS alternative living units (ALUs). The program is open to all consumers, regardless of funding.
