I like supporting individuals with autism because I naturally like helping people. In my family, I was always the one who offered my help to people. For example, I helped my cousin, who was blind, and became his assistant. I like to help people and give back to the community.
The pandemic has made my job harder because I have to sanitize everything three times each day. I have become more observant on what my individual touches because it will need to be cleaned. Sanitize, sanitize, sanitize everything.
It is rewarding to see an individual that responds to the love and attention that you are providing to them. It makes you understand how important it is to do this job with love because they definitely see or feel it, and they appreciate it. They may show their appreciation in a small way, but it is something and that is a good start. It is good to have a positive influence.
